It’s time to assess Murray-Darling Basin Plan water recovery program targets, says Member for Farrer

Member for Farrer Sussan Ley says buybacks must stop until the impact of the Murray-Darling Basin Plan’s environmental water recovery program can be assessed.
Ms Ley believed it was possible enough water had already been recovered to reach the Commonwealth Environmental Water Holder’s environmental targets.
She has called for amendments to the Murray-Darling Basin Plan and told parliament that water recovery programs had pushed communities in her electorate to the brink of disaster.
“We are at a tipping point with the Murray-Darling Basin Plan,” Ms Ley said.
