Murray-Darling Basin Plan: Irrigators risk losing another 565GL of water

AN EXTRA 565 gigalitres of water will be stripped from irrigation communities across northern Victoria, southern NSW and South Australia, if Labor senators join the Greens today in blocking key amendments to the Murray-Darling Basin Plan.
South Australian Greens Senator Sarah Hanson-Young has introduced two motions — one to disallow an amendment reducing the northern basin target by 70GL, and another to block a 605GL reduction in the overall 2750GL Basin Plan target.
