Murray-Darling Basin Plan: Social impacts scrutinised by councils ahead of water minister meeting

A new body of research outlining social impacts of the Murray-Darling Basin Plan has been released to coincide with a meeting of state and Federal water ministers in Canberra today.

The Murray River Group of Councils yesterday released a report into the complexities of the social impacts of the plan.

The group’s meeting with members of the Murray-Darling Basin Ministerial Council will be the first since a deal on changes to the plan was struck to reduce the amount of water saving projects by 605GL.

Federal Agriculture Minister David Littleproud has reaffirmed his commitment to a condition of the 450GL target.
