Record cotton harvest tipped for Murrumbidgee

MURRUMBIDGEE cotton growers are the only Australian farmers praying it doesn’t rain this month, as they harvest a record 67,000ha crop.
With water in storage and no rain to damage and discolour the crop, cotton irrigators were able to produce a clean, high-quality crop that will earn up to $580 a bale for export to South East Asian mills.

Cotton’s rapid march south can be seen in the mind-­boggling numbers churned out by industry analysts and Cotton Australia.
